Dynamic duo Deanna and Tim Martin have always known exactly what they want in a home, and the best way to go about getting it.

Deanna and Tim’s journey began in 2012 when they built their first home with Fairmont aged just 24 and 25 years respectively. Fast forward twelve years and two children and they are now building their fourth, with their most recent custom-built Fairmont home recently sold at auction.

‘We love the home we built at 1 Ian Street Broadview,’ says Deanna. ‘But we bought a boat and we’re paying for storage, so we decided we need somewhere to accommodate our toys.’

With their Broadview home sold, the couple did consider buying an established home with room for their boat. They browsed the market but found nothing that ticked all their boxes so they promptly decided to do what has always worked so well for them – to build another home with Fairmont.

‘The beauty of building is that you get everything just the way you like it.

In essence, that is the motivation behind every new property Deanna and Tim have built over the years - to accommodate their changing needs and incorporate everything they want in a home as their family has grown and their lifestyle has changed. They have even managed to make a success out of building on strangely-shaped blocks.

‘With the home we built at Ian Street, we wanted to utilise every inch of the triangle-shaped block. We wanted to fill all the corners, hence the custom design.’

From the street the home presents as modern and stylish, but keeps its cards close to its chest. For beyond the brick-feature façade there lies a phenomenal design with a 340sqm footprint and an inground swimming pool spanning the well-utilised landscape.

‘Our neighbours and friends are always amazed when they see it for the first time. They don’t expect such a spacious home and entertaining area.’

The expansive floorplan incorporated plenty of luxe design elements, such as a master ensuite with dual showers, a bathtub, twin walk-in robes and immediate access to a timber deck. This private space is perfect for busy working parents like Deanna and Tim, who enjoy rare peaceful moments relaxing on the deck in their hammock.

Along with a family-sized open plan living area with a flowing connection to the entertainer’s alfresco they chose to include a theatre room - somewhere they can relax with the kids and enjoy a family movie together.

Deanna says she and Tim love entertaining, so her favourite part of the home is the open plan living zone and outdoor entertaining area, seamlessly connected by stacking bifold doors and a kitchen servery window.

Tim agrees, describing the alfresco as “the heart of the home” surrounded by the living room, kitchen and home theatre.

A unique feature that working with Fairmont meant they could incorporate with ease, was a brick exterior façade continued as a feature wall in the living area.

‘The original home was made of old red bricks which we quite liked, so we included a brick feature in the exterior façade and used the same bricks as a feature wall in the living area,’ Deanna explains.

Deanna and Tim are Fairmont regulars because they’ve always found Fairmont to be very good at what they do. They say the previous property they built at Walkerville put Fairmont Homes to the test. ‘It was a 220sqm block that was really difficult to access, but Fairmont were fantastic at dealing with that, and the finished product was excellent.’

Now commencing their fourth build with Fairmont Homes, Deanna and Tim say their experience remains positive. They describe generally smooth and streamlined processes that work well, which is why they keep coming back.
